Dr. Plata is a graduate of the Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario Medical School in Bogotá, Colombia, and has undergone extensive postgraduate training in both Colombia and the United States. He completed his residency at the renowned Cook County Hospital in Chicago and his rheumatology and immunology training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Dr. Plata initially established his practice of rheumatology and immunology in Amarillo in 1996 at the VA Hospital, and since 1998 has been available for private consultation, and consultations at Northwest Texas Hospital and BSA Hospital.
